To long to read: Don't expect your car to be done at the agreed-upon time.

In September 2021 I took my car to Polish & Paint (Tielman owner) to get panel beating and a full respray done, the initial agreed-upon deadline was the end of Dec 2021 at a cost of R15k. The interior was already stripped and body panel stripping/prep work could commence immediately. I was told I can break up this payment over the period it will take to do the work which was 3 months. By Nov 2021 I already paid R9k and was shocked to discover that there was very little work done to the car, with only one month left.

I advised Tielman, that he's the pro here and I trust he will manage his time and finish the car on time end of Dec. Upon inspection in December progress was made, but no were near any form of "done" state. The body was still being prepared and repaired where necessary. We then agreed that the new deadline for the project is the end of Jan 2022. During Jan more progress was made, but I could see there was no way the car would be done end of Jan.

End of Jan arrived, and as expected my car was not done.

I'm not sure where this went south exactly, maybe the project was under quoted from the start? I think there were plenty of opportunities to renegotiate early as more problematic repairs on the body were discovered. The bottom line is that my car wasn't finished within said schedule and I'm left R9k in the hole for the exercise. Private school fees...

I would not advise anyone to take their car to Polish & Paint Kimberley.
