PLEASE DO NOT USE MOVING BY FAITH OR EBENEZER REMOVALS!
PLEASE DO NOT USE MOVING BY FAITH OR EBENEZER REMOVALS! THEY ARE SWINDLERS WHO EXTORT YOU FOR EXTRA MONEY BY HOLDING YOUR GOODS FOR NO VALID REASON!! TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY MY GOODS ARE DAMAGED AS WELL BUT THEY STATE ON THEIR TERMS AND CONDITIONS (WHICH YOU HAVE TO SIGN AFTERWARDS!?!) THAT NO CLAIM WILL BE VALID UNLESS THEY PACKED THE GOODS FOR YOU!!! STAY AWAY!!!
Unfortunately, we chose Moving by Faith. My mother (66) and I moved from Jhb to NW Province and paid the full amount 4 days before the move. I started worrying the night before when they told me that the second truck would only arrive at 11am (after it was promised at 8am together with the other truck). It only arrived at 13:00. While waiting at the 2nd pick-up point for the 2nd truck, the 1st team packed and repacked the truck several times. When the 1st truck had unloaded its contents at the drop-off point, they stopped. I then received an email from Japie and Rita @ Moving by Faith to say that there were extra items that were not on the list and that they would send the additional cost through shortly. When I asked what the extra items were, they immediately turned aggressive and demanded I “just pay the R 1000 extra” or they would instruct the driver to leave with my goods. I told them that I would gladly pay more if they could tell me what the extra items were, knowing full well that my list was correct. They could not answer me and demanded I just pay. When I asked the drivers what the extra items were, they admitted that there were none, but that Moving by Faith had sub-contracted them (Ebenezer Removals) to handle our move, still owed them R6700 (after only having paid them a 20% deposit) and that they were waiting for the rest of their money from Moving by Faith before unloading the 2nd truck. I told them that their arrangement had nothing to do with me and that I had paid the full quoted amount already (R15050) and were therefore fully entitled to have my goods. They then said that they received R1000 short from Japie and Rita (while they were waiting? From Capitec to FNB?) and that I was supposed to pay them the balance of R1000 or they would leave with my goods. I had to use all the money we had for the rest of the week for food (R480) by emptying my purse in front of the drivers, since the long-distance move had all but depleted our available funds. They still insisted on the balance of R520 and started driving away with the truck. We were hysterical. I told them that I had not been employed in almost 2 years and that my mom was on government pension, but they were adamant! I had to borrow the balance of R520 from a family member via EFT before they stopped and unloaded my goods. They even refused my request for 2 hands full of dog food so I could feed my 2 dogs who had been on the road the whole day and desperately needed to eat a meal in a calm environment. What kind of person denies food to the innocent? They openly extorted us for extra money, unable to provide details of their claim of extra goods not being on the inventory list. Obviously, the drivers (Sam and Justice from Ebenezer Removals) were in cahoots with Japie and Rita at Moving by Faith. I realised later that they repacked the truck at the 2nd pick-up point (after having seen what items there were at the second pick-up point) to ensure that all nonessential items were in 1 truck (pot plants, garden furniture, etc), which they unloaded at the drop-off point first, and all essential items (fridge, furniture, etc) in the other truck, which they then used to extort me with. It was clear that this was premeditated and that they had worked together before (the drivers admitted as much but stated that this was the way things were done. Ja right!). The pure blasphemy of calling your business "Moving by faith" and "Ebenezer" and then swindling extra money out of honest Christians!! How do they sleep at night? May God have mercy on their rotten souls!
